Abstract

Introduction: Mistreatment of children/young people is a public health problem with physical and psychological repercussions, so it is essential to raise awareness and train nurses to act in its early detection, signaling and prevention.

Objective: To identify the scientific production related to the topic of children at risk.

Methodology: Integrative literature review carried out in the databases: CINAHL Complete; MEDLINE Complete; Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive and MedicLatina, available on the EBSCO search engine, published between 2012 and 2022. The selection and exchange analysis of articles was performed by reviewers independently.

Results: Of the 243 initial articles, 13 articles were selected, according to previously defined criteria. It was identified the need to promote knowledge regarding the types of mistreatments of children/young people, which is a gap for correct referencing. It is also essential to identify how to proceed with the referral, as well as the legislation in force on this subject.

Conclusion: The knowledge related to this theme and the barriers to its referral by health professionals is support for the correct intervention of the Specialist Nurse in Child and Pediatric Health.
