Abstract
The present essay has as its object of analysis the work Do que não existe…, by Annabela Rita. This is a complex book, which presents itself to us under the aegis of a methodology very different from that commonly observed. By rethinking the literary canon, the author focuses on the phenomenon of aesthetic innovation, highlighting an inter-arts dialogue—from Literature to History, including Paint, Music or Architecture. Do que não existe... It follows a reflective itinerary of canonical or identity patterns that cross the Portuguese identity and European culture, in an intertextual relationship. Thus, the University Professor operates a split with the past, offering a hermeneutic challenge of her own, absolutely different from the usual one, on Literature and the Arts, in general.
